Cold calling is the initial contact with a potential customer, with whom no business relationship exists so far.
The term thus refers to all methods of acquiring new customers, whether by active approach or by so-called “pull methods”, such as advertising or online marketing. When discussing about cold calling, we usually refer to a direct, personal approach. This can be done by e-mail, telephone or by personal address. The fact is: Everyone is afraid of being rejected. In our personal lives, we mostly associate rejection with loss, for example, the loss of the chance to get to know a person we like better or the loss of a good friendship that is about to develop or even exist.
From a psychological point of view, this is a similar fear that arises with the acquisition. This fear can, albeit unconsciously, have a negative impact on the course of the conversation.
